Last chance to enter performing arts competition

Can you sing, dance, play an instrument or have an outstanding variety act just waiting to be seen?   Signing up to be part of the FESTIV ARTY performing arts competition could be the first step on your way to fame and fortune.

This is the first time there’s been a competition of this scale in Collie and you’ve just got a week to get your application in before entries close on Friday, 21 July.

Categories include dance, vocals, instrumental and variety. “Variety can be just about anything” says Alison Kononen, who is coordinating the competition. “It’s open to anyone aged from 0 to 100. Solo, duo, trio or ensemble groups are all invited to take part.”

Being the first time the event has been run means no one knows how many people are going to enter. Nevertheless the plan is that most of the heats will be run at the Collie Mine Workers Institute each Friday night in August with the big Gala Event Final to be held at the Institute hall on Friday, 15 September, during FESTIV ARTY.

FESTIV ARTY has evolved from the very popular Griffin Festival of the Arts which ran for 27 years. This brand new festival is coming together thanks to a dedicated band of tireless volunteers and the generous support of sponsors including Bendigo Bank, Griffin Coal and Lanco.

Entry for the FESTIV ARTY performing arts competition close 21 July.
