Dan Avila: Photography & Journalism
Join us for an evening with Dan Avila, world traveling journalist and photographer.
“I love the look of life through a lens. It’s hard to explain, but it is just exciting. From remote and difficult locations, to unique moments never to be repeated, I am obsessed with getting the shot and always push the boundaries.
I’m based in the port city of Fremantle,Western Australia – but I am routinely traveling around the world shooting for a wide variety of projects and clients and I love it … As a commissioned international travel writer and photographer, I live to shoot unique and special locations and always look to tell a story in both word and image.”
Wine, Cheese & Travel with Ruth Campbell-Hicks
From the wilds of the Ecuadorian jungle to trekking in Kathmandu, from the red heart of Uluru to the green of the Welsh countryside, Ruth has done it all, and more!
Often travelling solo, Ruth enjoys keeping a journal of her travels to share with her friends and family.
As an accomplished public speaker, Ruth will enthrall you with anecdotes of her adventures, and also demonstrate how easy it is to write and produce a simple travel journal.
Children’s Storybook Workshop
Children aged 5 to 12 are invited to join with Sean E Avery learn to create their own little narratives, which they put in their own little storybooks. We come up with wacky ideas, fold our own books, write them down and do some delightful drawings.
Sean is a teacher, writer-illustrator, sculptor and designer born in South Africa; living in Perth, Western Australia. Locally, he’s best known as the writer-illustrator of well-loved children’s picture books, All Monkeys Love Bananas and Harold and Grace published by Fremantle Press. Internationally, he’s best known as a sculptor who uses CD’s and DVD’s to create breath-taking works of art that reside in galleries and private collections all around the world. He is curious, enthusiastic and ready to work hard for the things he believes in.
